In this world, you can't completely rely on other people. You can't become so dependent on someone or something, because if that someone or something goes away, your screwed, you cant do anything because you've been so reliant on that thing to do everything for you and always be there for you. You have to be able to live by yourself.
In the book Charlottes Web, Wilbur depends on other people to always be there and to keep him happy. At the beginning of the book Wilbur depends entirely on Fern to always be there for him and to keep him preoccupied and happy. When he moves to the Zuckerman farm Fern becomes less and less interested and attached to him as the story goes on. Wilbur often talks about how boring and lonely it is without Fern and how he can't have fun without her.
In our world, it isn't good for a child to become too dependent and reliant on his/her parent. The child's parents aren't always going to be there for him, like for example, when he goes off to college. If a child is too reliant on his parents then he won't know how to live on his own and care for himself.
Another person Wilbur becomes dependent on is Charlotte. In the middle of the story to the end Wilbur becomes dependent on her for everything. He depends on her for guidance, companionship, and to save his life. Every time Wilbur has a question about something, he goes to charlotte. Every time Wilbur wants to be entertained, he goes to Charlotte. He even depends on Charlotte to save his life, because he doesn't know how to take matters in his own hands and do things for himself.
You can't be all reliant on people. You have to learn to become self reliant and self sufficient , because people you rely on won't always be there for you, and you have to be ready for when they aren't.
