Research for Picture Book

Watching that video from brainpop and reading all of the stuff about Jared High committing suicide it really made me think a lot about bullying and the effect it can have on someone.  It also made me feel like i want to do something about it, which is why i thought of it as a topic to my picture book.  I feel like i can make a very interesting story about it, and brainpop gave a lot info about how to deal with it and things you can do about it which i will use.

I am thinking of using the idea of The Terrible Things about using animals to represent things in life.  I would want to make it about a community of squirrels and how a bully comes in and starts picking on the squirrels. While the bully is bullying people no one says anything and lets it all happen.  At the end of the story, one squirrel thinks and asks how everything would've changes if someone said something to the bully instead of just standing around and watching.

I chose this topic because its a topic that i am deeply intertested in, and that you can go in many different places with it and take it to many different levels.  There are also a lot of layers in communism and it can make for an interesting story in a picture book. I feel like i can explore a lot with many ideas with this topic.

For this topic I also intend on using the idea from the Terrible Things about letting animals represent things in society.  I was thinking of making it about a community of animals and how a figure and his buddies step in and enact a communist like government on the communit

Social Awareness: Poem

Since when does it matter
Who i like
who you like?

Since when does it matter
If i like men
Or if i like women

It doesn't matter what your skin looks like
If it's black
Or white

So why does it matter
If a man likes a man
Or if a woman likes a woman

Why is it different?
Why does everyone care?
Why can't people be, who they want to be?

(poem about social issue with being gay)

(used homework pass on other social Awareness)
